-Description

Vacheron Constantin is a watch brand founded in Geneva, Switzerland in 1755. It is considered to be the oldest watch brand in the world that has continued uninterrupted since its inception.

Along with Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet, it is said to be one of the three most luxurious watch brands in the world.

Reference 6378Q is an self-winding model with a calendar from the 1960s. This dress watch has sturdy lugs, which is rare for a Vacheron, and has just the right amount of thickness.

The case is made of 18k white gold. The texture, which is not unlike that of stainless steel, is a major attraction. The diameter is 35mm, a large size for a watch of this period.

The main feature is the thick bezel with a polished finish. The case back is a waterproof screw back, which gives it a good thickness.

The dial is a silver dial with a sunray finish. It has aged well, but is in very good condition overall.

The hands are dauphine hands typical of watches from the 1960s.The indexes are bullet-shaped, with the 6, 9 and 12 o'clock sections having two of them in a row. It is a simple combination, but this thick index accentuates it.

Vintage watches of the so-called three major brands come in many variations, and yet, due to the small number produced, it is a major feature that there are rarely exactly the same pieces with the same reference.

The movement is equipped with automatic winding Cal.K1072. This Jaeger-LeCoultre movement was supplied exclusively to Vacheron Constantin and Audemars Piguet (as Cal.K2072).

Features such as the guilloché-engraved 18k gold rotor and ruby rollers on the rotor supports can be seen.

This movement is not only artistic, but also highly reliable in terms of operation as it has obtained the Geneva Seal, which is stricter than chronometer standards.
